Haim the owner of Hafinjan and a former resident of Gush Katif, took over this neighborhood restaurant and hired a new chef while bolstering the menu with a number of middle eastern specialties. Hafinjan is located at the edge of Nachlaot near the Machane Yehuda shuk, Jerusalem’s central market. It’s a mark of his success that the restaurant not only attracts tourists and Israelis looking for a good meal, but also the local Kurdish, Iraqui and Moroccan Jews who appreciate the authenticity of the cuisine and the very budget conscious prices. While Nachlaot has been undergoing a gradual process of gentrification over the years, the core of this historical neighborhood remains comprised of Middle Eastern Jews of modest means.

Hafinjan is under the Kosher supervision of the Jerusalem Rabbinate and the meat is Glatt Kosher, Beit Yoseph. The Restaurant is open every day from 9:30 am to 7 pm, from Monday to Thursday. On Friday the restaurant is open till 3 pm and is closed on Saturday.
